The fire alarm goes off, what do you grab?
I’ll tell you about mine in a minute.

But before that, I have another question: Have you heard about Key Moments?

“Key moments are situations or events which present a challenge and demand a response. These are times in life when you are beset by some form of adversity which has the potential to leave you feeling upset, negative, and unhappy.

To a great extent, the quality of your life depends upon choices you make during your key moments. When you respond negatively, you become a pawn or victim of life. As you respond positively, you grow in confidence and personal effectiveness.”  Roger K. Allen in How to Become Emotionally Mature

Do you see the cycle in the key? KEY moment —> event —> thought —> feeling —> behavior —> result.

Key Moments are about being aware and reframing what didn’t work before.
Being aware, easily points out what matters to us most. Sometimes what we discover doesn’t align with our desires, so it points out what we can change.

Therefore KEY MOMENTS, help us THINK DEEPLY ABOUT WHAT MATTERS MOST.

- If the Key Moment concept resonates with you, I highly recommend Dr. Roger K. Allen’s e-book as it goes in-depth about it.-

Confession:  Our fire alarm went off one night in the middle of the night.  I was so tired and sleepy.  I saw B taking care of it, for some reason I was sure it was a dead battery, and I went back to bed.  In the morning I realized that I should have taken that alarm more seriously and done something.
We now have a revised plan and everyone at home knows it.

So what I thought I would grab? my kids!  Now we have added the puppy to the plan.

Do you know what you would grab?

What are you grabbing on when any alarm goes off?
