Small efforts take you places

Last week, I climbed a mountain. Literally!

The weather was nice last week and my husband wanted to go on a hike in the middle of the day. So off we went, we drove not far from home to conquer Little Si. It is a beautiful hike with a breathtaking view at the end.
Driving towards it, Little Si didn’t look that big, especially next to Mt. Si, the mama mountain.  We had done this before, so there was some familiarity comfort, but the mount looked HUGE from the trailhead now.  The inclination right away didn’t help the feeling go away.  How long would it take us? Would the puppy make it?  How hard would it be this time?

The puppy made it with flying colors, he was the leader of the pack.  We took our time and one foot in front of the other, we made it to the top.

That got me thinking about a podcast I had just listened to, where one of my favorite artists, Jenedy Paige, shared about her journey.  My take away was that small efforts take you places
Her challenge to the listeners was to pick 1 thing you want to do or be and make a time commitment.  She said, “if I do 15 minutes of (something), I will be 15 minutes better at it tomorrow.”  So true.

Anthony Trollope put it this way “A small daily task, if it be really daily, will beat the labours of a spasmodic Hercules.”

Last week small efforts took us high places, gave us some good exercise, and a different perspective to look and think about.

Today my 15 minutes of writing and sketching means, I am 15 minutes better tomorrow, what would 30 minutes do?

What is one thing that you want to do or be?  Could you give it 5, 10, 15 minutes today?

My e-shop is OPEN! The plan is to make space for the new art, so I am uploading my favorite pieces that I still have from the last 4 years.  You will see lots of experimentation and different styles, part of creating my voice.  Check it out, you may find something that resonates with you.
