The Living Room Gallery

An art installation of figure drawings sewn together with title: connected

Connected, 43x60in installation of figure drawings

Small groups and real one on one conversations are where I thrive. And yet every now and then I feel a pull to do something bigger. Usually uncomfortable and stretching, something prompting me to grow. I am learning that when something feels right even when a little scary, there is something I need to learn.

I had been tantalizing with the idea of hosting an art show at home for some time now. So many almosts. So many plans that never quite landed as I couldn’t quite articulate my vision. But this year, things lined up just right and the Living Room Gallery finally happened.

I almost talked myself out of it. Busy life, busy season, all the reasons. But once Liawren’s team said yes, things moved fast and with purpose. I was so honored they were willing to co-host and bring their magic into the show. Really, go look at their work [here] and [here.] The care and detail in Liawren’s tiny sculptures is mind blowing. Love, love, love her work and the coolest displays and cases they build. They are such an amazing team.

A dream and big goal fulfilled thanks to SO many of you!

B, thank you for your help and for counting to thirty with me about a thousand times while we velcroed art onto every spare wall in the house. Kids, thank you for hanging things, moving things, hiding things, and then helping me find the things I had hidden. L + family, thank you for your constant support and for hosting the puppy so he would not bark every time the door opened.

My deepest respect for all those friends that host parties often and make it look effortless, getting ready felt like “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” life version & no musical.

Although, when I really needed cookies, Her Kitchen provided ‘all inclusive versions’:  vegan, gluten free, low sugar, all the things. I may have frozen the few leftovers and may be rationing them as rewards, so worth it! Check her site [here.]

We had art and cookies, then we needed music. G and J, thank you for playing piano for three hours straight. What a gift.

And of course, if there is art, food, and music we need people. Thank you for coming and making it a success! For all your kind words. For taking art home with you. For telling me how it made you feel. And for those of you who wanted to come but could not, here is a taste of what it was like, but you have to imagine live piano music, friends you are happy to see, and a few treats, on your own. But I am already inviting you for the 2026 version… did I just say that?

Having the idea, finding the motivation, hearing it may be a good thing several times, until you really want to do it, was just the beginning, so let me break it down. What I did, may spring thoughts for you, if you ever want to host your own home art show.

We were putting some finishing touches up when the first 2 people arrived, and it all became real.

What stayed with me the most were the moments…
Hearing “this touches me.”
Hearing “this is going in my office.”

Seeing my work in your homes; above your piano, in your favorite room, at your mom’s house.
Thank you for sharing your pictures!

And when one of your kids noticed and said “we have that one too.”
And when a dear friend simply said “well done.”

MUCHAS GRACIAS!

You fueled the confidence to keep creating, to keep showing up, and to share it all. It trully took all of you to make it the rewarding experience it was. I learned about the power of small steps, I learned that “marketing” can be as natural as texting a friend and can feel good, I learned that good energy is magical and that art connects people in a happy way.

I hope you got a chance to read about my experience at the Saprea’s retreat, the Saprea organization empowers survivors of child sexual abuse, protects future generations, and educates communities on this critical issue. I am smiling as I type this, over 10% of all sales went to Saprea. You filled my heart and helped someone else heal. That feels like a win win win.

Full of gratitude, the right way to start 2026.

Now, wish me luck as a start another of those ‘someday’ dreams, school for my Illustration Masters starts in a couple of weeks. Turns out if you give Cristina ideas, she might just go back to school. Proof that someday can become now!

All the love and good wishes for a great 2026!
